Page: Irregular Time Divisions

Irregular Time Divisions

Sometimes a composer wants to use a greater or fewer number of notes in a beat than allowed by normal quavers, triplets and semiquavers.

Groups of 4, 5, 6 and 7 notes will all fit within the same time frame.

Groups of 9 or beyond will need longer.

Groups of 8 notes will be rewritten using shorter note lengths.
